August 27, 2008 Fire at Silver Creek Preserve

On August 27 at about 4pm a fire started very near the Nature Conservancy offices at the Silver Creek Preserve. With high winds the fire spread very quickly and jumped into some portions of the Preserve. Fortunately Dayna Gross (Preserve Manager) and her family and others living near the Preserve are safe and homes have burned. The fire is no longer threatening the Preserve or the RR but several small buildings where lost.  At one point there where over 100 fire fighters and several air support crews working the fire. Thanks should be given to the efforts of the fire crews, without them this would have been a very different situation. More photos.
