Proposed 500kv Power Line Over Silver Creek

The deadline for letters has passed. Please check back to see how this issue is evolving.

To anyone who loves Silver Creek,

Hard to imagine that this could possibly happen to Silver Creek just East of Picabo! NorthWestern Energy is planning to run a 500KV power line from Montana into Idaho and OVER Silver Creek! This proposed route would be seen as far away as the Bellevue Triangle! The public scoping process for this project is scheduled to end October 10th. So for the public to comment on its disproval for this project, letters must be emailed before then. There are many reasons for this project to not pass over Silver Creek, but to even think we could not only see these towers that reach nearly 125 feet into the sky and wires that span over 1000 feet from our float tubes and favorite fishing spots is unimaginable! We have attached documents that list many reasons that this line should be re-located and also a document from Idaho Fish and Game that lists concerns that must be addressed in the Government Draft EIS Study necessary for this project. It is our duty to send letters to express our concerns and mention these items that MUST be addressed. When writing your letter please mention why YOU live in the Wood River Valley or visit Silver Creek, what you enjoy about it and why you believe that the power line must be routed in the existing PREFERRED corridors. Please be passionate and factual. The files that are attached below are a map of the proposed line route, scoping letter guideline in PDF and a letter from Idaho Fish and Game to NorthWestern Energy.
